Default Desperately need help with pinion angle

I need some help with setting the pinion angle. I did a search and didn't find what I'm looking for. I installed a Moser 12-bolt, Denny's D/S, Random Tech torque arm, Spohn LCA and adjustable PHR. I've gotten so much advice that I'm totally confused. I'd like to go back to the basics. How do you measure the angles? Where do you set the angle finder?

If I understand what I measured my DS angle is +3 degree's and my pinion angle is -5 degree's. I checked this by putting the angle finder on the DS towards the pinion next to the weld. I measured the pinion angle across the pinion and accross the torque arm where it bolts to the diff.

Can someone please help me?

TIA

Ideally, you want 1-2 degrees nose down on the pinion angle. That means the pinion angle (measure at the pinion yoke face or machined part of axle housing perpendicular or parallel to pinion) is 1-2 degrees pointing downward from the driveshaft angle.

If the driveshaft is 3 degrees, the pinion angle should be 1-2 degrees. See, they're both still going uphill toward the engine, it's just that the axle is pointing 1-2 degrees shallower than the driveshaft. Simple enough?

The way I set it on my car was to put the angle finder on the flat part of the torque arm where it hooks to the rear end and read the angle. the put it on the driveshaft and measure the angle there. the difference in the two is the pinion angle. Make sure that you do this with the car jacked up by the rear end with the suspension fully loaded. Normally -1 -2 degrees on an automatic car and -2 to -3 on a 6 speed car

Patrick and Will, thanks for the advise. I spent most of the day adjusting and test driving but got it pretty close. I made the mistake of ASSuming that the DS was measured in negative degree's. Once I got it right I was about 9 degree's negative. Now I'm running -1. I rowed through four gears (120mph) and things felt pretty smooth. I have no vibration in gears 1-5. When I change from 5th to 6th at 70mph the vibration is noticeable. Any idea why? I have none in 5th but do in 6th.

TIA
