Basic 10bolt questions...
Basic 10bolt questions... I got a M6 98 t/a with just a whisper lid as of now...
I want to run it at the local 1/8th mile track..
I'm running just 245's out the back and a stock clutch...
the 245's stick pretty well and I was wondering what my luck will be at the track.. will the 10bolt go?
will it start to howl after this?
whats the deal?
just maybe 2-3 runs for the night thats all.

With a M6, the 10 bolt is weaker. If you are running a drag radial then, the 10 bolt has a short life. If you are still on street tires the, the 10 bolt could live a little longer. The least that will happen is a howl. The worst is broken parts and the car will be disabled.

You should be fine with only a lid and street tires.
When my engine was stock, I made over 100 passes with my stock 10 bolts and Firestone SZ50 (275/40zr17), dropping the clutch at 2500rpm. Rear end was still totaly silent after those passes.
Next, still a stock engine, 22 passes with Motive 4.10's, and BFG drag radials (255/50r16), dropping the clutch at 2000rpm. Rear end hold but was really noisy after that.
