Identifying gears First off, the car (2002 Z28 M6) is still under warranty and I have not added any peformance upgrades whatsoever to the vehicle. For the past few weeks I have come to suspect that the vehicle does not have stock gearing. According to the gear calculator on f-body.org I should be able to do 55mph at 6600RPM in 1st, however I hit the rev limiter just before 50 (I am going about 45 at 6000). Second is when I topped out fourth, I happened to glance at the speedometer (which was about at 130 or so) and about 1 to 1.5 seconds later I hit the rev limiter and then shut down. The same gear calculator says I should have been going 147MPH, but at the rate I was accelerating I don't see how I could have picked up that much speed in that short of time. So my question is at what speed does your 1st gear top out (those of you with 3.42s) because I suspect that the calculator may be off? Thanks.
