Default Slight "thumping" sound from rear?

I recently noticed a slight thumping/thuding sound coming from my rear. Only on acceleration, not decel......only can hear it above about 30 mph. I have the stock 10-bolt, with 2 year old 4:10's/install kit, and SLP diff. The rear does humm a little as well, I expect that with 4:10's. Do you think the thumping/thuding sound is a sign I need to have the gears re-setup, and the fluid changed? What do you all think it could be? Bad bearing maybe???? THANKS!

When it happens is it constantly thumping or is it random. I had something like that. LCA bolt was loose.

After about the first 5,000 miles of usage after a new install, you should have the rearend open up and inspected for proper torque on the bolts ... especially on the posi ring. Make sure no backlash adjustments are needed. Mainly, though, you want to replace the fluid so you don't have new gear metal shavings and powder in your fluid, wearing on your gears. At least that's what I've been advised to do by a couple of reputable shops.

As for the thumping, could be several things. If you haven't had the rearend opened up in 2 years, that's exactly where I would start.

Depending on how many miles are the gears you have know you may not be able reset the pinion depth or backlash due to gear pattern wear. I have probably paid to have most gear problems corrected but this is just my .02

That's one of several reasons you get it inspected at about 5,000 miles. And after about 5,000 miles, also, is about the time bolts start to back out enough to snap the heads off of them, if the bolts are not torqued to spec with lock-tite used.
