Last year I actually compared the housing in my old beater 89 5.0 with a stock housing.
-The 5.0 housing is not as wide
-5.0 has upper and lower control arms, no torque arm, would need to change the design
-Stock 8.8 can't really take big power either. Most of my 5.0 buddies run upgraded axles and sometimes posis too.
