Gear question..
If it's an automatic, it came with either 2.73 or 3.23 gears. If it's a manual, it's 3.42. On the auto, the 3.23's are the "performance" axle. You can check your RPO codes. I believe the gear code is of the form GU# where the number is some single digit number. 2.73's are pretty rare for a V8 car, so I'd say it's 3.23 or 3.42 depending on trans.

But as others have said, look at your RPO codes on the door. M6 is always 3.42, and a quick way to check without looking at the RPO codes if it's an auto is to look at the driveshaft......steel=2.73
aluminum=3.23 
I haven't looked at the production numbers, but I have seen hundreds of these cars and only 2 with 2.73's. So I was basing my assessment off of personal experience. :shrug: <-- don't know if we have that smiley
