Shift kits I have heard alot about shift kits lately, going along with converter installs. I just installed a ST3500 a couple of weeks ago and noticed how weak the shifts are now. I have heard nightmare stories about shift kits in the past. So how many of you are running them and which kit are you using? I have a 2001 SS, and yes I have a B&M cooler installed also.

Re: Shift kits Well I am not an a4 person, but I can say in general a good shift kit should improve the life of the tranny - you have less slippage so less wear on the friction surfaces. Firmer shifts are an added bonus (Assuming you like them).
I would say they are probably a good idea, though for specifics (which brand, etc.) Patrick G would be the man to talk to.

Re: Shift kits I recently went with the Transgo kit. I didn't mind the lazy shifts at part throttle, but I felt like I was leaving something on the table at the track. The kit definately quickened the shifts going down the strip. I recommend it.

Re: Shift kits BigBake - Jason (EFA) did the install. It was his first Transgo, and he said it was a PITA, due to conflicting directions between the printed version and the video version (kit comes with a video) But he did it right, and there's a noticeable difference. For first timers, he said it would be handy to have a TV out in the garage.

Re: Shift kits I've got the Vig #7, so my part throttle shifts are very mushy. Sometimes you dont even feel them, just hear the exhuast tone down, and watch the revs fall off. It doesn't bother me at all though, and I've been reluctant to get a shift kit, partly because I doubt there is an installer around here. I'm sure someone can, but finding that someone one the first try....
A plus to not having the shift kit for me, is that at WOT, the rear end stays planted more during the shifts and doesn't like to step out to the side as bad.
