rear question
I did a bunch of searches, but really didn't find anything on my issue. I have a SLIGHT gear whine. However it's not on decel. I hear it while cruising on the highway with the rpms at 1500 or less. It may be there above that however the exhaust may mask it. Is this normal or should i have it checked out while the car still has a warranty?

spinning the tires once a week can be very hard on the stock rear. My gears look like i polished them. Needless to say my rear hals like. a beast. Other than that it is in shape. New posi and bearings. Just needs new gears and someone to buy it

Mine has the same thing. Cruising slighty pedal pressure it is audible over my exhaust, then it quiets down when the accelerator is released. I can hear it from about 35mph on up. It is not horribly loud, but at freeway speeds with the stereo on it can be heard.
I am currently fighting with the chevy dealer in San fernando to rebuild/replace it (the shop foreman is trying to tell me it's normal). The first time the whining occured the dealer were i used to live just rebuilt the diff.
The first time it was my fault as i loved trying to get the 555's spinning (dumbass!!) but, since it was rebuilt I put regular tires on the rear and my driving has not been as spirited. Mind you the car only has 33K on it and the diff was rebuilt less than 2500mi. ago. Any input on my situation would also be appreciated.
