Default rear end bottoming out

On some hwy dips or bumps my rear seems to be hitting a solid stop and it noticibly jars the whole car.

Why? and is there a fix?

Is your car lowered? Did your car originally come with 16 inch wheels?

Take a look at your rear bump stops. I have heard that on our cars GM put different spacers and different bump stops depending on what wheels originally came with the car. They had some really big ones on the cars with 16 inch wheels. My car originally came with 17's but I noticed that I had an aluminum spacer under the rubber stops on each side. Since my car is lowered I decided I wanted a little more travel up there so I removed the aluminum and just screwed the rubber stops back in place.

Just a thought.

if you did lower the car, OEM shocks or even bilsteins aren't valved to keep up.

have to be a pretty hard dip in the road though. you got your top shocks mounted securely and the springs in the cups at the right place?
