Tranny help please... As I was driving home on the freeway, I moved out from behind a semi to pass it (at night) and there was something in the road that i ran over. It looked like a piece of a firehose...have no idea what it actually was. Heard a non-metallic clunk when i hit it, and slowed down and listened carefully; heard nothing wrong. Took my exit some 10 miles later, and when i tried to put the car in gear (M6) to go when the light turned green, it wouldn't go in! I tried all the gears, even reverse, and none of them would go in. I rolled the car out of the lane and tried again, nothing. I turned the car off planning to get out and flag someone down to help me push it all the way off the road, and lo and behold it went into gear while it was off but i could feel a lot of notchiness. I started it up and as soon as i did it felt like i was driving an automatic; it wanted to inch forward. Rather than risking taking it out of gear or shifting gears, i drove it the rest of the way home in 1st.
When I got home i looked under the car, but there's no remnants of anything jammed up in there. Anybody have any thoughts on what blew up?

Re: Tranny help please... I'm not an M6 guy, but I can tell you the clutch is not disengaging, presumably because of a hydraulic problem (like a hose/line is cut now from contact with the debris) with the actuation system.
Somebody experienced on M6 F-body should be able to give you a more accurate description <img src="gr_tounge.gif" border="0"> <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

Re: Tranny help please... hmm...that makes sense. Where do the lines run (anyone)? I'm about to take a good look under the car (now that it's daylight and i'm off work). Any other input or further suggestions are greatly appreciated!
