Y Pipe Banging Installed the SLP LT headers with their ORY a little while back. I always got really bad banging under WOT and hard turns. Looked at it and turns out that the exhaust is hitting the driveshaft at the U joint. How can I fix this? Should I take it back to the shop that installed it and ask them to do it? How much you think it will run? Thanks
Re: Y Pipe Banging Mine did that as well but I found that I was actually hitting the cross brace. Either way I would get that fixed. When its not running go under there and hit that y with your hand on the the rh side and at the y, to simulate the torque surge from centrifical force when the motor moves on its axis to the towards the left. Mine still hits at the rh side but only when at WOT.

Bend it down?
Install a torque strap on the motor?
Install a brace on the header to the body?
It's common occurance with aftermarket headers.
And they are right... it WILL cause knock problems.

Re: Y Pipe Banging Where do you attach the torque strap? I need one myself just have not looked into it yet. Where could you get one of those as well?
