Default Rear End Question

I am in the market for a Rear End, i need something stronger then the 10 bolt i have pushed to its limits. I know that Moser and Strange are the popular options New, but can someone explain to me why i cant get a rear end out of a truck or a 9" ford and make it work on a F body? I know it may be a dumb question, but trying to achieve the same goal without dropping 2200.00

BTW i dont care about ABS or TCS it is mostly track car and that has been deleted..
Any help or advice on this would be helpfull.. Thanks in advance

None of those have a torque arm mounts. Plus, the dimensions and mounting is different. Just going to put out the cash for a 12 Bolt or 9".

You can. Just make sure you get one long enough, as stock F-body units are 65.5" WMS-WMS. Try a housing from a late 70s F150, or better yet, same-era station wagon w/ coils and discs.

I believe Moser will sell a housing(with the torque arm mount) and 31-spline axles for around $950ish. Just add a 3rd member, and you'll be pretty much bulletproof.

Just got done with mine last week, works great other than the detroit locker that I hate. I didn't go back with a torque arm though, made my own Z bars and they definitely work. The rear came out of a '76 ( I think) Country Squire station wagon and it was only 1/4" wider so I didn't have to narrow it. It took maybe 2 months at the most to do it working on it in the afternoons, coulda got it done alot quicker but fabbing the Z bars took a while and so did the bolt on caliper brackets. Here's a link to a bolt on torque arm mount if you wanna keep the torque arm. http://autoweldchassis.com/vbi.ivnu It's a lil more than halfway down the page. Oh yeah, I've got $1150 in mine, that is everything new except the housing and center section.
