And so when you grab a firm second gear, THIS happens:


In the first picture you can see that the pinion gear had sheared off 4 1/2 teeth from my ring gear. The second pic kinda shows how torn up the pinion gear is. LUCKILY for me I still have the stock 3.42 ring and pinion, so I don't need to buy a whole new set of gears. But it still pissed me off that I have to lower my gear ratio and not have a car for a week.
So...when you get your gears installed, make sure its done RIGHT.
