"Softest" lowering spring???

"Softest" lowering spring??? I`m looking to lower my Z an inch or inch and a half max. It is my understanding that lowering springs provide a firmer,and sometimes much firmer, ride than stock springs. I am lowering the car for appearence and not handling purposes as I am mainly a drag racer and not a auto X-er. That coupled with the fact that the roads here in MI beat the hell out of you and your car even with stock spring and suspension rates. So I was wondering if anyone out there knows what company if any makes a "closer to stock" rate spring? Or, has anyone the route of heating/cutting their springs with any positive results? Or, drop spindles in the front V6 springs in the back? Thanks in advance for help! <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[Burnout]" />
Re: "Softest" lowering spring??? You can always cut your stock springs. I did and am very happy with the ride compaired to 'real' lowering springs. Still works right at the track too.

Re: "Softest" lowering spring??? I like the idea of cutting the stock springs because for one thing it`s cheap! And I don`t think it will change the spring tension/firmness. How did the whole process go for you? Any stumbling blocks or things you coudn`t do in your driveway? (I assume you did it yourself).Thanks for the reply.
