2.73 to 3.73
I am trying to get a thought of what gears to get in the future. I have a 94 A4, and when dyno'ing it hit about 176 or so at the top. The people at G-Force were saying I had 2.73 gears so that is about all i have to go off of, anyway assuming that is correct what is going to be the difference in the swap? also would I need a new carrier? I have seen 3.73 for a 2 series carrier on thunder racing. also i do a lot of highway driving, should I go for 3.23's instead or is it much of a difference?

Lol you're going to get raped by the use the search button police.
3.23's are an option for LT1 autos GU5 I think. Try to find one on a dealer lot and take it for a spin. Big sop difference, not a huge track difference, couple tenths.
I would go 3.23 or 3.42 on an LT1 car. Maybe 3.73's if its an all fun car (no long drives).
You're looking at about $700-1000 when all is said and done, unless you do work yourself, buy used parts, blah blah blah. You'll need speedo correction. So a used HPP3, predator, or buddy with edit. search and read up.

If your car has 2.73 gears, then your carrier is a 2-series. The 3.73 gears need a 3-series carrier unless you buy the thick gears. The thick gears are made for use with the 2-series carrier. My 'bird came with 2.73 gears, and I swapped them to 3.73 gears. My car had over 100,000 on it, so I just bought a really nice used 3-series carrier to replace the original 2-series. I bought my 3.73 gears from Thunder Racing too, and had everything installed by Finish Line Performance in Chicago. I also recommend getting a diff girdle since you're keeping the stock 10 bolt like I did.
My total investment was just under $1,000 bucks when it was all said and done. The biggest expense being the $400 install and the price of the gas for the trip from Central Indiana up to Chicago. The carrier was a great find on ebay for $180, and the gears were something like $280.
I drive my car often, and many times it's for my lengthy commute to work. It also sees a lot of drag strip time, so the 3.73 gears won't hamper the ability to drive the car as often as you are now.
