Ptrick G and the Colonel
When I swtiched to the ST-3800 then later the PT-4400 and Yank trans I had major issues with a ported MAF ends. I swtiched to an SLP 85mm and the shifting issues went away like magic.
Out of those choices I would choose the ST3000 or as close as you can get to a Vig2800
Seen too many damned fast Vig2800 cars to dispute them.

What converter would be best for you depends largely on what tires you plan to use, how much dragstrip use it will see, and how loose of a converter you can tolerate.
I'll move this to the drivetrain forum where I think it will better fit....

The ported MAF gives the pcm a false reading of less incoming air. The pcm, in turn calculates less load and increases engine timing (good) and lowers transmission line pressure (bad). The lower line pressure is linked to many problems...namely shortened tranny life, converter clutch lock-up problems, and trans related (DTC) codes.
