tranny problems

tranny problems

ok i get home tonight and go to put my tranny in park and the car starts to back up like in reverse so im like WTF so i put it in reverse and it backs up also. so now i put it in neutral and give it some gas and now it drives forward. has this happen to anyone else? ive never heared of this before. is the tranny toast?

Its sounds like the shifter linkage(cable). It could have stretched and is not moving the tranny into the proper gear, just a thought.

Yup I busted part of the bracket on the shifter linkage once and all the gears were off. It would drive in Reverse, 3rd in Neutral, 2nd in OD, you get the idea. Park was neutral of course, there was no actual park, so I had to use the ebrake till I fixed it. New cable is like $30 (complete).
