3rd gear syncro took a crap again I think
When I got it back it had trouble with 3rd gear, casual driving would cause it to pop out. Because of timing and the fact it would stick if I raced the car I left it alone until this past winter.
They pulled the tranny, fixed the 3rd gear syncro and put it back together.
I brought it home 3 weeks ago and its been fine for the most part, never gave me any trouble until about 5 days ago when I noticed at low speeds it was hard to take the tranny out of 4th at low speeds, 25-35mph, even with the clutch in. Never let it bother me since it was fine everywhere else, I just avoided doing that.
Today the wife and I were out furniture shopping and I go to get on the freeway, mind you I've driven the car pretty lightly, its 30ish outside and even with brand new Nitto's the car blows the tires off anywhere near 4000rpm at 70 percent throttle so I've been easy on it to keep it straight. We get onto the freeway, leave it in 4th at about 60 and I goto pass someone, hit the gas and it gets to about 5000rpm and hear a noise. Put it in 6th and drive 2 miles to my exit, no other noise or problems.
Get off the freeway and leave 1-2-4, again slowing down and taking it out of 4th its hard to get out. Take off from the light and goto hit 3rd and it pops out, now it had popped out a few times before but nothing that I could not attribute to me maybe not getting the clutch all the way down. Put it back in and it just rolls out as soon as I give it any gas.
3rd won't work at all, it either rolls out, or grabs then snaps out hard.
Been about 1000 miles or so since I picked it up.
It did kinda feel like adjustment on the Ripper, so I grabbed a friends brand new non-adjustable Ripper and we put that in, same problem.
I'll call Nick on Monday but is there anything anyone else can think of to check?
Car drives fine, just can't use 3rd. Also it gave zero indication it was going, there was just the occasional pop out of 3rd when going into 3rd driving casually, maybe 5 times in those 1000 miles.
This is with the new Ram clutch(bronze) and the Mcleod Adjustable Master Cylinder.
Thanks
