Default Gearing on 2002 Trans Am

I'm very new to the trans am world. I purchased a 2002 TA and have been comparing rpm and mph with other TA owners. My car runs 2000 rpm at 70 mph. Does anybody have a chart to find out what gearing this car has? I would also like to know how to find what the original gearing was.

M6 or A4? I'm guessing A4.

look inside your drivers door at the RPO codes
gu2=2.73's
gu5=3.23's

If you have an M6 then you have aftermarket gears.

www.f-body.org/gears/

A4 2.73 (GU2) or 3.23 (GU5)
M6 3.42 (GU6)

Codes are on the driver's side door.

I have an auto with 3.23's and that sounds about right. But like others in this thread have mentioned, look at your RPO codes. Just open the drivers door and look for the white sticker at the end of the door. GU2 = 2.73 and GU5 = 3.23 gears.

Either way you may want to consider 3.73's sometime down the line for performance reasons. I'm just waiting for my rear end to blow up. Then I'm getting a 12 bolt with 3.73's.
