Default Worth my time?

Broke my diff. Should I get a whole kit like PN 542040?
Or can I get the internals like PN SA852015B and rebuild the rearend myself?

It's my first time pulling and replacing the differential, but I've got basic mechanical knowledge and smart enough to pick up on things pretty quickly. Worth my time? Or just get the entire carrier that's ready to go?

what stock diff do you have? The SAblahblah PN is for an open diff. and wont work for you if you have a posi diff like an Auburn. If you do have an Auburn then you will need to order a replacement unit as they are non-servicable.

The 10 bolt rear break so easily, and it isn't just one part that breaks. You name it, and someone has broken it... Don't put a ton of money into it, I have seen people invest $700 to $800 into them, only to have the next weakest link break, and take out the whole rear. Bob

As a daily driver and me being a college student, I've really got no choice but to replace what's broken this time and save the skrilla for a 10 bolt at a later date. I'm fortunate enough to have a truck as well, though, so I'm not at a total loss.
