Question about gears.. I am looking into doin a couple mods over the winter in hopes of at least a 12.7 or close to it. I am looking into a set of 4:10 gears for the 10-bolt. How much should I pick up in MPH & how many tenths? I realize it can vary due to driver, but what about is an average pick up with gear swap? I will have the mods in my signature + LT's, ORY, P&P TB, & the gears. Will this put me in mid to high 12's? Maybe some drag radials?

okay, now I have been told another f-body owner on my club board, not to switch gears in my stock 10-bolt because alot of M6 tranny guys have had problems with it.

Spend any amount of time searching and you will see that people have problems with 4.10s in ten bolts, usually because they are a) set up wrong b) flat out abused c) have too much wheel hop or d) neglected (i.e. run out of fluid). However lots of people use 4.10s and have no problems, either. You have a higher risk of breaking something with 4.10s, but oh well, you gotta pay to play.
4.10's here in my M6 and really haven't had any problems with the gears themselves. First time around the shop didn't know what they were doing so they made alot of noise and rear end leaked everywhere. Second time around local reputible shop did an awesome job! Probably one of my favorite mods to date!
