A few ?'s about the RAM.......
1. Do I need the new flywheel?
2. If I use the stock flywheel what are the proper bolts needed to make it work?
3. Were did you find the best price?
Thanks
Cliff
The bolt holes need to be 3/8-16 thread with a .100 counterbore at the top of the hole, .380" diameter. Our bolt set is pn 490. Again, I don't have a problem with you using this flywheel with the 300 series material that is on the fw side of the 980 disc. If you wanted to use the metallic you would need our billet wheel. Now I say need - the stock again will WORK, but our initial tests showed accelerated wear when it was used with the 6000 series disc.
If you use the 1550 steel fw, the same 490 bolt set will work.
FYI. The stock flywheel is nodular iron, meaning it is explosion resistant. This is why I'm not really concerned with its use. If it was gray iron (not explosion resistant), I would be concerned, especially since you are probably not using a scattershield (do they even make one for the LS1?).
Summit has the clutch incorrectly listed as aluminum flywheel. They also have it priced wrong - it should be the same as the steel fw units. I informed them of this earlier in the week. I'll forward this as well since I didn't mention the website. The 1550 is definitely the steel wheel
#2 See above post.
#3 Call the sponsors and ask how much $$ you can get. I got mine from summit BUT i was a while ago and didnt find it on a sponsor's site. Hopefully a sponsor can match summits price for you to get the sale. Mine was about $320 shipped for the 310 disk and PP
