Differential Question

Differential Question I may be totally wrong about this, but it seems that over the years of the f-body, the 10 bolt appears to have been different sizes. The latest is 7.5". I have seen other 10 bolt gears that are bigger (7.625")(geez 1/8"). Was any other 10 bolt bigger? I know this is probably a pretty dumb question, but if there was a larger 10 bolt, could a larger 10 bolt gear (along with differential) be put in the current 10 bolt housing? I could swear somewhere I've seen some of the older 10 bolts were 8". Or has GM changed the housing over the years so as not to be able to fit one of the larger 10 bolt gears in the housing. Or better yet, am I totally wet about this whole thing? I guess I'm grasping at straws to try and strengthen the 10 bolt instead of getting a 12 bolt. Could be wishful thinking huh!

Re: Differential Question The current 10 bolts are actualy 7.625, but 7.5 inch ring gears fit, i belive it was in the 80s that they added the .125 inch.
The second gen F bodies with 10 bolts had an 8.5 inch ring. they are not interchangeable with the 7.5s housings are differnt...
