Another Poly Tranny Mount Question How much do the Tq. spec #'s effect install and vibration? I assumed when I had my Energy Suspension mount installed the shop tq'd the bolts to spec. (I brought them my service manuals)but now I find they used an impact to tight.
We left out the preload plate and shaved off the 'nubbies' and it vibrates from about 1800 to 2300 RPM.
I have been told it should not make that much of a difference.
Any thoughts about it being too tight?

Re: Another Poly Tranny Mount Question Why did you leave out the preload plate and shave off the bumps? It specifically says in the instructions to install it that the preload plate must be installed? That could be the problem.

Actually this is very common. It has been found that by removing the preload plate and shaving off the bumps you reduce interior vibrations. After having mine in for a while this was done to it and it made a big difference!
Now to the original question, if you can I would losen the nuts and torque them down properly, the shop may have compressed the poly mount depending on just how strong of an impact wrench they used.

Exactly. I read this during a search about the mounts and that is why I did it. I can't imagine the vibration if I had not...according to the other posts about it.

Re: Another Poly Tranny Mount Question The poly mount makes your car feel like ***! I couldn't wait to get it off. IMO it ruined the way my car drove. I put the stock one back on after 2 years of weekly drag racing and it is fine. [Dealer wanted $66.00 bucks for a new one!!] I have never torqued it to spec on any of my F-Bodys and it has been fine. No vibrations ,no problems . I tightened it with hand tools. <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">

Re: Another Poly Tranny Mount Question My poly Torque arm mount should be in this week and When I have everything broken down I think I will try the Grinding mod to the Poly Tranny mount..... They might say not to do it but anything beats this damn vibration!!!!!!!
