17x11 and lowering I have a 99 SS with 17x11 inch wheels. I was wondering what is involved in lowering it with the 11's. I know I have to do some banging of the fender wells, but how much? Shoukd I leave this for a body shop?

Re: 17x11 and lowering From what I have heard, all that is needed is to bang in the inner fenders a bit where it rubs. 3M makes some stick goop stuff (sorry don't know the exact name) that you can spray if the plastic underneath cracks and falls off. I just ordered some 17x11s myself and been researching this a bit. You will have to jack up the car by the differential, or grind down your bumpstops if you prefer to jack your car up normally. Others please add if I missed anything because I would like to know as well. <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">
Re: 17x11 and lowering You might have to get a adjustable panhard bar and center the axle, a wee bit of banging on the inner fender and maybe just a wee bit on fender lip. And like the other guy said, you might have to fiddle with the bumpstop. When you take the wheels off, you might can see where they have rubbed on the inner fender "if they have". Just bang a bit in that area. If you are running 11s now and you haven't rubbed the innerfenders, make sure of the outside to fender lip clearance. It's not terrible hard. No need for a bodyshop, after you are done banging on the innerfender- spay some rubberized undercoating on it and you can't tell it's been futzed with.
