Squeaky brakes!

Squeaky brakes! Hey I just put new Bendix pads all around. My brakes squeal like hell when i'm crawling to a stop but not at all if I'm braking at a higher speed. Anything I could do to get rid of this squeal? It sounds terrible and is driving me crazy!

Re: Squeaky brakes! For two years I ran Carbotech Panther pads on street and on track without a peep. Last fall I installed a Baer four piston caliper kit with the pads supplied by Baer. They didn't just squeek, they howled like an old dump truck comimg to a stop. Like you said, not at speed but when coming to a stop. I just replaced them with my usual Carbotech Panther Plus pads and bedded them in. Goodbye squeel, and much greater stopping power. I'm not saying you should get Panthers because they're a track pad and don't really shine til they get hot. But you might try going back to the factory pads. Mine never made a sound.

Re: Squeaky brakes! I saw someone had mentioned some "squeek juice (the blue stuff)" in another thread? Is there anything I can put on the brakes to shut them up or should i just cut my losses and get some new pads?
How much are those Panther pads you were talking about?

You could try the anti squeek spray from any auto parts store. After I installed the panthers, I had some squeek until apparently the old compound was abraded off the rotors.
The Panther Plus pads for the stock calipers cost me about $125 as I recall. Panthers for the Baer calipers ran me about $140. They are a track pad but I run them on the street also. They stop as well as factory pads on street, but on track, when they get heated up, they grip like a SOB. They do make a lot of dust but they're very rotor friendly. http://www.carbotecheng.com
