longer wheel studs for 12 bolt?

I was talking to thunder today and they said they offered the longer wheel studs for the 12 bolt and I was wondering what the advantages of having the longer studs would be? Im guessing maybe for NHRA regulations for certain ET's. Am I right?

You're right. The studs have to extend into the hex portion of the lugnut at least 1/2 the diameter of the stud. Open lugnuts must be used. This is for all 10.99 or quicker cars.

BTW, with a two piece wheel (like Draglites) it is required regardless of ET I'm told.

Longer wheel studs is the way to go.
