Default Easton Posi , quick question

My stock 10 bolt sounds like a box of rocks once you hit about 50 and gets even louder over 60. Im guessing its just the posi. diff.
I dont want to upgrade the whole rear end yet unless i have to.

My question is, will the Eaton Posi diff. work for the stock 10 bolt and when i decide to upgrade to a 12 or 9 bolt. will i be able to use the same one.

I don't think you can. I'm almost 100% sure that the 10-bolt one will be smaller than the 12 bolt unit.


If you need parts I've got my stock 55K mile 10-bolt sitting in the garage collecting dust. I just put my 9" in a few weeks ago. It's a Torsen diff with 3.42 ring gear on it. Also it has the ABS reluctor on the carrier (I.E. 3 channel). PM me if you want anything.

i have TCS & ABS, so i dont think yours would work , right?

Have to search or post to make sure. I think that as long as it you just used the carrier it would work. You'd have to have your gears set up on it. The only difference between our rears is that my reluctor wheel is between the carrier and ring gear. Your 4 channel rear has a reluctor wheel at the wheel end of each axle.

Nope, the stock 10 bolt has 10 bolts holding the diff to the ring gear, a 12 bolt has 12 bolts holding the diff to the ring gear. So they each have their own seperarate posi's. Also the 3 or 4 series carrier makes a difference too for each rear.

BTW, thats actually why they are called 9,10, and 12 bolts. Not because of the bolts on the differential cover, which is a common misconception.
