What is the difference between making my shifts firmer using a physical shift kit, vs messing with the shift pressure through programming?

In my experience, no to little difference. I bet most would say the shift kit allows fluid pressure to be used more efficiently which helps achieve a quicker shift, but the added pressure is the main thing. I had the transgo in my 4l60 and I removed it and just put my hpp3 at 100% and it shifts quicker in my case. I saw your above post also and The lag is the trans itself. You are getting the command to the trans ok but the trans takes that long to achieve the shift. I too have that same problem and it got much worse with the tp4400. The reason I came up with is now the revs are much quicker so the lag time allows rpms to climb. I have my Hpp3 set at -3 to get the 1-2 shift in by 6200. Its just the damn electronic trans. I'm personaly getting ready to switch to a th400 when I do the heads/cam/N2O

I might be wrong but the new boost valve and spring that comes with the Transgo kit increases the amount that the front pump flows. The HPP3 just increases line pressure but does not increase or maximize front pump flow. I don't know but this may not be good for the tranny in the long run. Just a thought. I've alway run Transgo shift kits in my trannies. Just my opinion, could be wrong. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
