Driveshaft romoval Any write ups on removing a driveshaft. Just bought the UMI TA with DS loop and have never removed a driveshaft before. The search didn't give me much detail. Any tips or tricks? Thanks!
It's like a 30second job. I forgot the bolt size, but 4 small bolts on the rear end side. And that's it. Pull it from the trans after that. Might want to put some oil on the trans end when sliding it back in.
Mark the position of the DS with a sharpie. It should be balanced regardless, but I like to put them in exactly in the original position if possible.
Undo the saddle cap bolts and then gently pry the U joint out of the differential
Push the DS deeper into the tranny and bring the back end of the DS down. Then gently slide it out of the trans and down on the garage floor. BE CAREFULL not to nick the yoke. Let it down gently and put it on a shop towel of something. If you make nicks and burrs on it, it will eat up your tranny seal.

Put tape around the end caps on the rear U joint so they won't come off - and don't overtighten the bolts, they're only 16 lb ft.
