Default How to make 9" 4ch. ABS?

I messed up. I orderred a rear without the ABS option and now need to add it. Anyone know what is needed to do this? Sending it back is not an option. I can get machine work done where needed. Please help.

You will need reluctor rings pressed on the axles, and your old backing plates with the 4 channel sensors.

I have all the parts to do it but the rings do not just press on and it does not seem like there is enough material to machine the axles for the rings to fit. What can I do?

If you have access to a machine shop just have them make 2 sleeve's. I have been working with a water jet guy but we have nothing that will work. I have been also trying to make the rings to fit a stock Moser axle shaft but I need someone with an EDM machine.

Well I called Moser and they won't give me the details on what they do. I need at least dimensions on how far from the axle hub the ring sits if someone can measure for me. They want me to pay $175 plus shipping to get this done and that is just not an option. I really need some help here guys. This project has just been hell. I am never doing this much work at once again. I hate that it is April and I still can not drive the car.

I will be ordering a 4 chanel 12 bolt soon to be shipped to my shop. I can take some measurements but thats all I can do. You will need to find a machine shop that can make up the spacers in your area.

I have someone that can make them. I just need the distance from the back of the axle hub to the back of the abs ring. That would really help.

BADSZ28,

It's 1/2" from the backside of the axle flange to the face of the reluctor ring.

You just have to make sure that it's on there far enough to clear the round tip of the TCS/ABS sensor. But worst case scenario you could always space the sensor away or grind down the tip.

But before doing a Mc Guyver on the axles. Why don't you just buy the right axles from Moser and sell your 3 channel axles.

Thanks for the info 69.

I am going to have a pro make the spacers so I am not worried about that. These axle would never sell becuase they are specifically for an F-body rear conversion.

Forgive me for sounding stupid, but what is a "F body rear conversion"? I mean as long as the axle tubes are standard length there should be no problem selling the axles.FWIW as I recall Moser just pressed the reluctor rings onto my axles. I don't remember it as a major situation. Also it was reasonably priced.

Not stupid, just do not know all the details.
I checked it out. They are not just pressed on. They make a spacer that is pressed on the axle then press the rings on the spacer. If all that was needed was pressing I would have done it as I have had these rings on and off stock axles and stock type moser axles (which also used a spacer) numerous times. Plus they would not charge 175 just to press them on. Especially if you can do it with hammer and 2X4. Axles are not standard length. One is shorter than the other.

I'm pretty sure all 9" have one axle shorter than the other.
