if you have Traction Control and ABS, it would be a 4 channel system. The fronts on either 3 or 4 channels are in the front hub. The rears, on a 4 ch is located at each wheel, on the backside of the backing plate. A 3 channel is located on top of the rear-end housing above the differential section.

It is not a single sensor per say, it is the ABS/ TCS module decision to turn the light on under certain condtions. Bumpy roads can play havoc on the wheel speed sensor signals, specially on a marginal sensor to begin with.

Yep, what wrencher said...the "logic" of the Module is the controlling party in these cases. Here in Hawaii the rain has tore our roads up. A friend hit a pothole, nothing to big or damaging, but his lights came on. Two days later, I hit a rough section followed by a pothole, my lights came on. His LT1 they stayed on until he messed around with the sensors, my lights went off after I got to work and shut the car off, started back up no lights. A couple others have had this issue.
Recently, after my 9" install with a locker, my Low Trac Light seems really sensitive. I know its just the locker and the module fighting over happy ground, so every now and then I nail it and make them both happy
