how many miles does it take to break in a new set of gears?

i called MC racing in KC and they told me to drive it for 1 day and put at least 20 miles on em...so i don't know...i've heard 500-1000 and i've heard 20 miles

i just put new gears in and the mechanic that put them in said that he jumps on them right away but you wana take it easy for about 500 mi so dont like go to the track the next day or anything and you sould be fine

I broke mines in from 500 miles and changed the oil after that..
