Default Diff swap in 01 SS

Hey guys, have a quick question. I'm picking up a nice 01 SS tomorrow that's seem some abuse and has a dead rearend. It pops and clunks around corners really bad but does fine in a straight line. I'm guessing broken spider. It has a TA girdle and I'm guessing a gear upgrade to 3.73. I'm wondering, if I'm not changing gears (assuming the gears are still in good shape), what will be required to swap the diff? I'm looking at bringing in a T2R. I'm hoping that I will just have to swap the ring gear onto the new carrier and reinstall without resetting everything. Thanks for the advice!
