8.5 ring gear vs

8.5 ring gear vs What do you think of a 8.5 ring set up vs the 7.5 ring gear ? I have found a compnay (Strange)that makes the conversion from 7.5 to 8.5 ring set. This can be done with minor machining to the 10 bolt housing. This may be an alternative to the 12 bolt and 9" conversions.

Re: 8.5 ring gear vs From what I was told this comes with a posi unit ring gear set,bearings,seals and billet carrier caps. This was approx $1100. There is also a cover upgrade and gun drill axle upgrade but I dont remember the price on them.

Re: 8.5 ring gear vs 1100 bucks with the stock axles doenst seem like its worth it to me. axles will be aroung 250-300 and the cover is probalby similar to the TA cover in design and price, so thats another 100-150
A 9 inch housing and axle package from Moser was 1150 to my door, then all you need is a center section, which could be had for under 500 bucks.
using the 9 inch your choices are:
upgraded stock rear, that will hopefully hold 1450-1550 (this doesnt include machining costs)
Moser 9 inch that will be next to idestructable If it is set up right 1500
In theory its a great thing to see, but just doenst seem cost effective to me. I would much rather see someone actualy make an 8.5 inch ten bolt direct fit for these things.
