wheel bearings
wheel bearings I have a question about wheel bearings in 10 bolt in my '01 SS. In order to service, or replace the bearings, do the axle shafts need to be removed? I think one of my rear bearings is on the way out and would like to know what is required to replace it. I've done the front wheel bearings before, but not the rear. A little guidance would be appreciated.
ok. My left rear wheel assembly is making a squeaking sound. It seems to make a less noticable sound when the brakes are applied, but I thought it coould be the bearings. Could it be that my brakes are draging? I just had the rear end serviced about 4,000 miles ago...so I doubt that it is low on fluid. I will have my mechanic look at it tomorrow...i'm a little stumped.
Hope so...shes in the shop now. I'll let you know how it turns out.
It wasn't wheel bearings at all. Some unintelligent criminal tried to steal my left rear wheel/tire. Apparantly they gave up when they saw the locking lug. The terrible noise I was hearing was my wheel trying to fall off!
