Default Trying to pick a tranny?? help!

i'm needing to get a trans soon but have no idea which one to go with? FLP stage 4, speed inc's "race prepped 4l60e", SLP's. Eventually, my car will be a heads/cam car. i want something i wont have to really worry about breaking (ha!)or having to reprogram the pcm. (if possible)
any sugestions?

Your best bet is the FLP Level IV 4L60E. It is the best of what is out there.

The Speed Inc tranny is still unproven. There are maybe 1-2 cars with a Speed Inc tranny at this point in time. Its only selling point is that it is cheaper than the FLP.

The Yank trannies are hit or miss. Some are great, some suck. I may be wrong, but I think the SLP trannies are re-marketed Yanks. I love Yank converters, but I wouldn't put money into one of their transmissions until I stop hearing the horror stories.

I did the research and bought a FLP Level IV. It will be going in my car this week. Its sitting on the floor of my buddy's speed shop as we speak.

A FLP Level IV runs around 2K+shipping.

It is as streetable as a stock tranny.

The converter choice is almost as bad as arguing religion. I'd suggest going with a Yank.

What are your mods again? What do you want out of the converter?

The best way to fid out about FLP is to call them. 630-820-9294. Ask for Chuck Johnson.

My friend is running a Speed Inc. Tranny w/ his heads/cam setup...I haven't seen the trans temps get above 150 unless you make 2-3 full dead stop to 100mph passes, then it gets up to like 180, but its not good to hot lap anyways..
