SES Light!! What is this code and why?
Strangely, I couldn't find it in a quick search through the Helms manual. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

I'm sorry you are experiencing this code but it is quite common on 2001 LS1's that have smaller 9" converters with around 3500 stall. My Yank Super Thruster 3500 also does the same thing.
It seems mostly only the 2001's get this computer problem. It is nothing really bad, has something to do with the programming and the smaller mass of your converter. When the code gets thrown it locks the tranny in 2nd or 3rd gear - I forget which. Makes it really tough to take off - feels like its slipping really bad. I thought I blew my tranny the first time it happened. You can pull over and turn the car off and back on and it will shift better again but the light stays on for a few engine cycles.
To get around this problem people (myself included) drive in D around town or under 40 MPH and then manually shift into OD when over 40. The problem never comes up on my 01 SS anymore as long as I shift down from OD to D when decelerating to a stop for a light or stop sign.
I am certain that some guys are eliminating this problem with LS1 EDIT. When its out for the 2001 I may buy it to fix the code problem and also remove Torque management. I hope this answers your question.
regards,
Mitch R.
