do i really have a Locker?
I bought a used 9" and the guy told me it has a Locker in it. Installed by Currie. But I cannot hear the tick tick tick going down the road or anything. 'Course my car is uber loud, so i shut it off while i was moving and turning into my driveway, I didnt hear anything?
does this mean i have a good setup or something is wrong...
If there is a locker in your 9", it is a Detroit Locker. And when it "re-sets".... you'll know it. Its more of a 'B A N G' than a mere 'tick'.
The mechanics of a Detroit use a dovetail interlock and not the segmented cog design of a Lockrite or Softlocker. There isnt as many segmented positions for it to lock into.... so the tick isnt going to be there. But when the dovetail finds the neutral position and re-sets, you will definately know.
I know that when I first installed the Lockrite in one of my vehicles.... and it reset the first time.... it made about half a lane change and it sounded like I snapped an axle.
Then I learned how to drive it....
I have also owned vehicles with Detroit's and they were much more apparent than the Lockrite. The bang means its working correctly.
