convert for highway I have a 99 ss stock,i travel from dallas to central arkansas(thats were i am from) to see parents about 400 miles one way.I will be going to the track,and street racing often.what stall converter,and str recommended.I'am going to run dr's.concern about heat,gas,stress on transmission.I drive about 80 mph on the highway

Re: convert for highway A SuperThruster 3500 would work well with drag radials and your 3.23 gears. Highway gas mileage will be unchanged because the converter locks up, just like the stock unit, on the highway. In town mileage will probably drop by 1 - 2 mpg.
As far as heat goes, a 19,000 or 24,000 GVW plate type cooler will provide enough cooling to allow you keep tranny temps cooler than stock.
