tip of the day, low fluid
Tip of the day. Check your rear diff fluid regularly.
Put a MAC diff cover on this weekend. When I drained the fluid I was waiting for the big gush of fluid all over and it never happened. The diff was only about 1/3 full of fluid and it smelled burnt. There was a lot of metal too.
The front seal is leaking. Not bad no drips on the floor but you can see it under the car. Would not have seen it just doing a oil change, really need to look straight up under the axel. Anyway, don’t think it would have been long before I lost enough fluid for a rebuild.
Looked under a search on pinion seal, seams to be a regular problem. Wonder if this is one of the reasons the 10 bolts gets a bad rap for failure. (Besides being a little weak for drag racing and high HP)
