Default SY 3500 Launch???

What is the best launch (RPM) for a SY3500? I have 3.23 gears in now.

1) street radials??

2) Nitto drag??

After the hit to the tires is it 1/2,3/4,or full throttle? I have been testing a little (not at the track) to see what feels best to me but I liked to hear some input from you guys.

Thanks for any feedback

If you have nittos and keep them on the street at 26 lbs, you can almost mash it if the road is good and the tires are warm.

On street tires you can step quickly to about 1/2 - 3/4 throttle and once you are moving and hooked up, go to WOT.

I stall mine to about 1800 rpm, then roll into the gas and get about 15-25% spin but still hook pretty hard. Its enough to throw my cell phone (which sits on the flat part of the console in front of the shifter) to the back seat of the car. I have to get my tires pretty hot to make it hook on the street. I have the rear nittos at about 20 psi. I used to run them at 26 psi like Ragtop said, but they got bald in the middle within a month. Now I run them at 20 psi and get much better traction with the lower psi too. The sy3500/3.73 is a great street setup. I holeshot just about any car on the street that I have come up against. After the heads/cam/intake/n2o install this august, ill be running 15" et streets and hope it hooks up mean on the street. Just keep practicing the launch, only problem is every road is different, some times you can launch at 1800, 2200, idle, or flashed converter. Good luck, have fun figuring your setup out.

The best way that I found to launch with the SY3500 on street tires was to launch somewhat easy (around 1/2 throttle), and once it started rolling, go wide open. I always did best from a 15mph roll with that converter, it usually crushed everyone from a slow roll. Get those Nitto's, you'll get more enjoyment from the converter. Glad to see my old converter's working for ya, sometimes I miss it when I try to run someone on the street with my new converter, I usually end up putting my BFG DR's up in smoke. Can't complain though, got plenty of new bests at the track. See Ya, Bill.

I have the Vigilante 3200 (approx equal to the Yank 3500), and Hoosier Quick Time Pro tires. I have to smoke them up a bit on the track, then floor it from idle. It doesn't spin at all. On the street I can floor it (off idle) without a burnout and hook with -zero- tire spin.

nbm99ta, what size are those qtp's? What psi do you have them set to for the street? Im stuck between ET drags and these tires.. I am looking for some better traction for the street, getting heads/cam/intake by August and these nittos will be tough to hold that traction im betting. Thanks

Replied to your PM's. Forgot to mention I have them at 20psi. When comparing the QTP's to ET Streets... the QTP's are stickier and softer, but do not last quite as long, but they seem to hook up a little better.
