Default Hitting the rev limit

Are any of you guys hitting the rev limit cosistently after installing a aftermaket torque conveter. Is it absolutely necessary to extend the shift points after this mod. The converter is a SY3500 with 3.23's.

I was. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> After the ST3500 install (with stock shift points) the tranny would shift 1-2-1-2. And I get lots of wheelspin w/street radials. I eventually went to +4 on the shift points w/HPP3.
I started getting a nosedive on shifts and thought it was TM. After many Autotap runs I -finally- caught it at 623x rpms on the 1-2 shift. I set the rev limit to 6300 and it seems to be cured.
Hitting the rev limiter was evidently so transient that Autotap had a hard time catching it.

I really think I need the HPP3. Just recently I raced an M6 with exhaust, HPP3, lid, and cold air induction. I was ahead of him for the majority of the race until I hit the rev in 3rd. He ran past me as if I was standing still. I heard a pretty good setup for HPP3 is 1st +3,2nd +2, and 3rd +2 with the limit set at 6000. I didn't have the nittos then but I do now. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

I would suggest trying for a 6200 rpm shift on a stock valavetrain. For 3.23 gears try +1, +3, +5 with 6300 or 6400 rev limiter. These cars respond differently, so plan on experimenting.

You got that right. I never could get past that funky 1-2 shift, back to 1st briefly, then finally shift to 2nd until I bumped up the shift points. Still don't know what that was all about. I even went negative on the shift mph and it didn't cure it after converter install. It seems to now have settled out okay w/+3 and 6300 shift points. Maybe my TC or trans is a little "off".
I didn't want to bump the limiter, but it seems the only cure for my problem.
