I'm actually curious of the same thing except I'd go with a 3200 stall.

well i voted for stall and stock gears... but i didnt read your post first... The 3.73s will get you down the track quicker, but they're a little harder on gas from what i hear. How much worse you will have to get from someone who has them. I'm keeping my stock gears... a stalled car with stock gears is mean on the highway. to each his own

come on guys lets hear what yall think, but im thinking the only bad thing on the interstate with an A4 is we really only have like 2 sweet spots like a 60 roll or an 85 roll and most 6 speed guys can just downshift to the perfect gear, and us a4 guys are stuck like in 3rd at like 3500 or 4000 rpm. sux..

the stall will help eliminate the dead spots in an a4 and will give you a mean *** launch. you're really better off keeping the stock gears IMO.

I would do both (I actually did both at the same time). Some might disagree.

are you planning on a cam swap in the future? if so.. you need to decide how radical of a cam youre gonna go, and then make the t/c decision following that... you should be good with a 3500+ stall for most cams (that is as long as you dont go too big).. id do the stall first, just cuz theyre a lot of fun.. but def. follow with the gears... if you got the cash just do em at the same time, its not that expensive to get gears and a t/c all at once if you look around..

IMO, 3.23's are an excellent gear for the LS1. Go for the stall. If you had 2.73's, as I did, I'd tell you to get gears. But with 3.23's ... 3.42's - same as 3.23's from a performance standpoint. 3.73's - a little more get up and go, but some punishment on hwy mpg's. Stay with the 3.23's, get a converter that meets your goals, and have a ball.

Convertor first, then the gears. The convertor will yield more speed and MPH and the gears will complement the convertor. Thats my recommend. Cheers.

not worried about gas milage? then do both. the 3.73's will still let you hit speeds on the interstate that would land you a night in jail(or a hefty fine). 3.73's will also help you get into the sweet spot on a launch, and put the sweet spot lower(mph) in any gear. just do them both and never look back. But I am an LT1 Caprice guy, so ya know.

with a cam and a stall, the gears will definatly complement the stall.

I voted for both, but I would get OE gears rather than Richmonds though.

trust me I did the gears, do the T/C, I am puting my stock gears back and getting a 2800-3200 T/C. I hate the gears, and they hate me. 3.23 are the perfect gear.

Personally I wish I'd have done headers instead of gears.
