Good luck! Hope you end up with a quiet one (and I hope my new 12-bolt will be quiet too).

I am going to go with a Strange 12 Bolt. I know a guy that has been running one over a year now and he still pulls 1.52 60' foots. But all I want is 12's I thats it.

You can do 12s on street tires, but you will need a rearend for when you wanna go faster, which you will

Well I got the M6 Transmission. BUt just in case I would rather have it than take a chance of it broking on me on the highway or interstate. Fastest times I pulled so far is a 13.5 at 107 mph with street tires. The car is still bone stock.

Mine lasted a 155k miles using street tires, If you don't plan on putting drag radials on it I don't personally see the point in a beefy rear end.

well people break 10 bolts all the time with 4:10's and street tires, if there weren't so many horror stories about 4:10's id have them already..

Well I was assuming stock gears, I never got 4:10s with the 10 bolt either because of that.

My Question would be....When I asked the question about getting a new rear...I have an 02 WS6 M6....put down 325 bone stock (haven't dyno'd it sinse the cat-back, cut-out and lid.....waiting to put my headers on and tuning it before putting back on the rollers)....anyway....I asked the question on another site I'm on which rear should I get: 12 Bolt, 9" or Dana 60 and everyone told me the 12 bolt would be the best "bang for the buck"....and that the 9" and 60 would rob too much power. But it seems like in this thread everyone is saying the 12 bolt isn't strong enough....a 9" or 60 is the only ways to go.....is the 12 bolt really that weak? the car \ has stock internals right now but at some point will probably get H/C and at hopefully a supercharger (but that'll be a while..LOL)..wil the 12 bolt be enough?

Thanks!!

I hear the 12 bolts start making a lot of noise after a few hard launches. But, it doe snot rob more power than the dana...in fact the dana has less parasitic hp loss then the 12 bolt.

I'm not defending it, I just want constructive advice not fanboy talk. From what I have seen the Dana out does the 9 inch in every area, so I'm looking for the dirt on it.

From what I hear the 9" is stronger. They say that the metal that is made to make the housing for the Dana 60 is cast and is strong but not as strong as the steel housing from the 9". I couldn't be happier with my choice. Like I said I went from 4:10s to 3:89s and susposedly gained a ton of weight that was going to slow me down and couldn't tell the difference. I mean you can't argue with that I actuallly picked up trap speed which everyone says is an indicator of horsepower.

Think maybe you just weren't as afraid to launch hard on the 9"?
