Odd high pitched noise .....

Odd high pitched noise ..... Whenever I am going 55 mph or faster and when I step on the gas, even barely tap on it I am getting this high pitched whistle sound coming from somewhere in the back of my car. I don't know what the heck it is and I need to fix it. Is it my rear end? Someone said it was a bearing because one of the rims has a HUGE dent in the lip from the past owner and this person thinks it dented the bearing but wouldn't I hear the noise anytime the wheel spins and not just when I press the gas???

I have the same problem in my 96 Z/28.
I really think it is some kind of electrical interfearance.Same think spund seems to change with throttle position.
