Default Upgrading a stock rear end questions

Hey, I was thinking about upgrading my stock rear end for my '98 WS6. I was going to get 3.73 gears. Where would be the best place to get a rear end (12 bolt I assume?)? Any other suggestions?

Thanks for the advice,

Scott

how are you going to upgrade your stock rear, but go with a 12bolt? They are two different rears. You should contact a sponser and let him know what your looking for.

That is what I meant. I just don't know how many other options are available for these Fbodies. I thought it would be a 12 bolt, but I wasn't sure if there was a specific older vehicle that I should be looking for one from.

Due to the f-body torque arm mount, you'll be looking for an aftermarket rear unless you have some SERIOUS fabrication skills - marine welding being one of them.

I think Sonic28 means upgrading FROM a stock rear, not trying to improve the stock rear itself.

The most popular way to upgrade the rear end is installing an aftermarket 12 bolt. Next most popular is a 9 inch. Although I think the new Dana 60's are going to start catching on.

Anyway on the 12 bolt, the two most common for late model F-bodies are the Strange and the Moser. Both have their fans and their enemies. I'd say browse around the board, study both companies' websites, even call their tech support. If you have some experienced friends, ask their opinion.

I have one of each. Moser in my '02 and a Strange in my '94, so I'm not playing favorites.
