I put in a Moser 9 inch with a 35 spline Detroit Locker. I know that it makes a lot of noise going in and out of corners. Sometimes tho it feel like it slips (not engaging?) coming out of turns. Question is - Is this normal? I don't want to screw anything up if it's not. BTW - It hits hard and leeves two very long black mark when I go in a straight line...

I don't mind the noise. My car's suspension does not have the greatest street manners anyway. Sure wouldn't use a Locker on a DD type of car tho. I just didn't know if the "slipping" was normal, or if it could be harmful.
That all sounds about right for a locker.
Ha! I can relate. Mine lasted about 3 months. Love the Trutrac.

Hi,
My locker is acting the same way as yours on street corners. It's normal
. You will get used to it. A locker is very noisy but is strong as hell!! I like mine. If your car is more a drag race car and if you go occasionnaly on the street, a locker is perfect and act like a spool in the burnout box and on the starting line. With a locker, you don't have to worry about breaking something like with a posi or side gears at the track. Maybe a truetrac system or a spool would be better for you if you don't like clunking noise and corner slippage.
My 9'' 4.30:1 with 35 spline and locker is the perfect combination for 6500 rpm clutch dumps with 28'' drag slicks. It doesn't whine like a 12-bolt and traction is insane
I saw so many guys breaking their 12-bolt with posi at the track that I can live with the bad street manners of the locker.
Every time someone is in my car, they always ask what is the strange noise in the back?
