Default 9" with 2" taken off each side!

Ok here is my question. I want to put a nine inch in my 2000 SS. I wanted to order a 9 inch and have them make it 2" shorter on each side. Then instead of using a 15X10" weld draglite with a 7.5 in backspacing I would go to a 6.5" back spacing. This will pull the wheels in 2" and the rim will be more center. The closer the center of the rim is to the half the distance of the rim width, then the better it will be. Also this would still leave the tires closer inside the fender wells. Has anybody done this yet? I know I will need to get rid of my emergency brake location but who needs a brake???

I think I will have to Minitub it a little but not much. The shorter the axles the better right? All comments wanted. Pics if you have them. I am trying to get the deepdish wheel look like Agostino's race car without having to 4 link it. If I have to four link it I will though.

By the way what is the best route to go for a 9inch rear?

The "Derek H" is the man to talk about this! I believe he went 3.5" on each side on his 9".

mine is tucked 1.5 inches on each side.... i run a 15x10 with a 6.5 inch back spacing and a 7/16 spacer but correct me if im wrong but wouldnt you just use a 5.5 on a 15x10? mine fit in there very nice with a 28x10.50 et drag BUT its a bitch to find wheels that fit in a bind

I was thinking of doing the same thing when I order my rear...1.5-2 inches off each side to help correct the rim offset..I would think this would work better for keeping the wheel tucked up into the fender well and not sticking out...some of the wheel combos ive seen on these cars with spacers or the centerlines without spacers are hideous...wheel and tire sticking out of the fenderwell atleast an inch... not my idea of a clean looking wheel/tire combo at all...I guess most guys dont worry about it since they only run em at the track....anyone have opinions on this??

That deep dish look from the ARE car comes from a much WIDER rim...not any offsets. i do believe that the silver car is minitubbed and running 12" wide rims

But i do feel it would be better for you to get the rearend shorter
