Default 12 bolt and tq arm

A month or 2 ago my torque arm came off my car. It did this because I didn't know that you had to put lock tite on the bolts. I bought new bolts with locking washers and put red loctite on. Well on the way to work today the rear end was cluncking over bumps. I looked under the car and the 2 top bolts were off again. Atleast this time they didn't rip the bolt holes off the tq arm.

What did I do wrong this time? Do you think it's possible that the bolts stripped out the holes in the 12bolt? Anybody else having this problem?

Moser I presume? Do you know how to safety wire by chance? I'd seriously recommend it if you keep having this problem...

Safety wire - basically, you drill a small hole through the head of the bolts that are next to each other, run a small wire through the hole, and wrap it in such a way to connect the two bolts together so that if one comes loose, it tightens the other, so that it essentially can't move. Look at this site here:

If I had gone with a Moser, I would have safety wired them in place, that's for sure. I think that's about the only really safe way to do it.

Had mine come loose after 2 months. I used plenty of red loctite, which obviously didn't work. Is there a permanent solution to this crap? I'll try the safety wire for sure

It is a common problem which is why I advise using the Moser 9 inch, which uses the oem style of connecting the torque arm. I've used red loctite on my own Moser 12 bolt, and I still have to check the bolts every now and then. Bob

I have the same results.

I tapped out the holes in the rear to make sure no crap was in there and the loctite could take a good strong set.Clean the bolts as well.Add a few drops of loctite and install, torque to 80ft lbs.Never had a problem.

I went with longer bolts with my Spohn torque arms since it's thicker than stock, and the bolts that came with the rear will not have enough threds hold.

You have to make sure that there is no oil or contamination in the threads of the bolt or the tapped hole. use brake clean or carb cleaner and blow every thing off use good quailty grade 8 ( I recomend grade 10) bolts. make sure your hands are clean when handling. I used grade 10 bolts lock washers and red loctite torqued to 80 lbs with no problems and I drive my car everyday 35 miles one way to work and back. You do not want to use to much loctite because it is not needed the best way to aply loctite is to set the fastener on the head and aply 4 drops from the top of the threads at 90 degrees from one another. simply put, put 4 adaquite drops at 12, 3, 6, & 9 o'clock and install the bolt. The only reason I do it this way is because Boeing, pratt and witney, honeywell, and the government require all there fasteners to be installed like this for the aerospace industery. There is a reason for this don't know what it is but since I started doing it his way I have never had a bolt come loose.

I used a lot more loctite this time. I have been checking it off and on and it hasn't come loose at all. No track passes yet but I have gotten on it a bit and no problems.
